A last minute rush job for a client in New York who were taking care of a post credit sequence for a new feature film due out soon, called ‘Y2K’ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27218960/
It was being directed by Kyle Mooney (Comedian from Saturday Night Live) and Evan Winter (Author of ‘The Rage of Dragons’). The Director of Photography was Bill Pope (Matrix Trilogy, Alita Battle Angel etc etc) who was shooting How To Train Your Dragon 2 in Belfast at the time.
As it turns out the client was the peerless A24 films nonetheless and they had a need to shoot the actor Julian Dennison (Hunt For The Wilderpeople, Deadpool 2) who was also in Belfast at the same time as Bill Pope, as an actor in How To Train Your Dragon 2. It made sense to do the pickup shot here instead of The States.
So we had two weeks to try and pull this all together…
We had to shoot in a green screen studio and be able to provide a live camera feed to the directors in New York, at the same time as have them linked in to the studio so that they could direct the action. We were able to provide two options thanks to Dee Elliott the camera op. and our DiT Ciaran McIlhatton. It went off without a single hitch and everyone was seamlessly hooked up between New York and Belfast.

It was great to be Line Producing for a change and it proved to be something that I personally found myself quite comfortable with.
Lauren Sheerin came on board as Production Manager and did a fantastic job of arranging everyone and pulling together a truly professional team at the 11th hour – no mean feat in Belfast currently.
A huge thanks to all involved on both sides of the Atlantic and to Jeremy from Ocarina Incident for a truly level head and steady hand.
Thanks also to Roger from Acorn Studios for the warm welcome.
