From the earliest stages of its development to its ongoing visual marketing and promotion, I’ve had the privilege of being involved with Linen Mill Studios – home to the world’s only official Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Northern Ireland. Working alongside HBO and Warner Bros Discovery, the tour began taking shape after the series wrapped its eighth and final season in 2019. By February 2022, the doors opened to fans worldwide, offering an immersive glimpse into the making of the show.
My role at Linen Mill Studios has been multifaceted in bringing their vision to life. During the initial construction phase, I collaborated with Belfast-based augmented reality agency Yellow Design to develop teaser videos and promotional stills for social and traditional media. Additionally, I worked on creating 3D models of original costumes, props, and scale models – capturing the essence of the visual storytelling that made Game of Thrones so iconic.
One of the most exciting aspects of this project involved using photogrammetry to produce fully textured point cloud models of select assets, with a primary focus on the series’ stunning costumes. These models became the foundation of an interactive exhibit where visitors can virtually try on different outfits and see themselves move in real time on a life-sized screen.
To achieve the highest level of accuracy, we worked closely with Iron Mountain, the secure storage facility housing the series’ valuable props. Their meticulous cataloging allowed us to scan and recreate the costumes exactly as they appeared on screen. Mounted on a rotating platform, each costume was photographed from every angle, capturing the finest details necessary to create high-resolution, textured 3D models. These rendered models found their place within the visitor attraction, where they’ve captivated both longtime fans and newcomers alike, offering a unique way to step into the world of Westeros.

Since the tour’s launch, I have continued to create visual content to support its promotion on both a global and local scale. Whether through digital marketing assets or interactive experiences, the goal remains the same: to bring the magic of Game of Thrones to life in an authentic and engaging way.

Linen Mill Studios stands as a testament to the power of storytelling and craftsmanship, and I’m proud to have played a part in bringing this immersive experience to audiences worldwide.
